2021 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7 from a Colorado lender lot to Grand Forks, with the lake park delivery overage math

since the F-150 thread is turning into the place for these, here is mine. 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie crew cab 4x4, 5.7 Hemi with the eTorque, 41,300 miles, Diamond Black, bought through lakeparkautoconnection.com in early september.

why a Ram: i wanted the Laramie interior and the Hemi, and the Ram store in Grand Forks had 21 Laramies at 38 and 39 with more miles than this one. i bid 31,200 blind and got it. no premium, so the invoice was 31,200.

where it sat: a lender lot in Grand Junction, Colorado, on the western slope. that matters for the delivery. free delivery is inside 1,000 miles and their math from the yard to me came to 1,160, so 160 miles times 70 cents, 112 dollars added to the wire. i asked how they measured it and it was the door to door truck route, not a straight line. fine. arrived on day 13 on an enclosed hauler, which i did not expect for a pickup.

condition: matched the photos except two things. rear pads were at 3 mm, listing did not say anything about brakes either way, and the bed had a scratch through the liner that was in the photos if you knew to look. rear pads and rotors were 190 at RockAuto and a saturday. i did not bother asking about brakes under the warranty, it is a wear item.

question for the Hemi crowd: 3.21 gears and the eTorque. anybody towing a 6,000 lb bumper pull with that combo, how does it do on hills?

one owner, a construction company in Grand Junction going by the name on the title, oil changes at the Ram store every 5,000 on the Carfax. i have started it cold with the hood up for a week straight now and it is quiet. 5w20 Pennzoil Platinum and a Mopar filter went in at 41,500 anyway.

the delivery overage question came up in a message so here is the whole thing in one place. the listing shows the yard city. the free ring is 1,000 miles from lake park. if you are outside it you pay 70 cents a mile for the part past 1,000, and they told me the number before i bid, so there was no surprise at the end. for me that was 112. i have spent more than that in gas driving to Fargo to look at a truck that was already sold.

90 days and 3,100 miles. towed a 16 foot tandem with a Polaris Ranger and a load of firewood to the cabin near Roseau, maybe 4,500 total, and jenna was right, it hunted on the hills west of Thief River but tow/haul settled it. it has been minus 9 twice, starts on the first crank, the eTorque stop start does not work below about 20 degrees which i consider a feature.

one more small thing to file under honest. the rear slider seal let a little water in at the car wash, known Ram thing, the dealer wanted 640 to replace the assembly. i did it with a 22 dollar tube of butyl and it has stayed dry. that plus the pads is the whole repair list. i would use the broker in lake park again, and i would look harder at the brakes in the photos next time.
